8 Months & Happy Birthday Daddy!

Julian celebrated 8 months on his Daddy's birthday!

Julian tried really hard to get his hands on that cake and utensils, and anything else on the table - but he was unsuccessful!

I think we bore him with these photo shoots! One thing is for sure...this kid does NOT like to stay still!

This last month has been so much fun! He's a steam roller, got caught with a few too many shoes in his mouth (oops), and finally recovered from his sickness. Still no teeth, no matter how many times he tries to convince us that he's teething.  He still loves to lock his legs when you try to get him to sit on his bum. He just wants to go straight to standing! He does this head bobbing thing all the time now. And he's still a super chatty, mostly happy baby - who hates being alone! Even daycare has commented about his love of being with people.

For Daddy's birthday, Julian made a cute hand painted card and got Daddy a cute figurine of a police officer holding a little boy's hand. Really sweet :)

It seemed like a fun, cute idea at the time...

The idea was to lay down saran wrap, put a piece of paper on top of it with paint, then layer on more saran wrap so that the paint doesn't get on tiny hands or the floor, carpet, etc.  Instead of being a fun an easy craft, I had to keep prying the saran wrap out of his little hands before he ripped it up and had paint everywhere! Good memories.

After birthday presents were opened, we packed up the car and went to the mountains to celebrate Daddy's birthday with a snowboarding trip. We stopped at TommyKnockers on the way for some lunch.

As usual, he was focused on the food.

We got to the house and enjoyed swinging for a little bit until SheShe arrived.

It was a fun weekend of tummy time, nonstop attention for Julian, and a little shopping. Oh yeah, and Daddy got to finally go snowboarding for the first time this year!

He had a tough time sleeping in the pack'n'play in an unfamiliar area, but otherwise he had a ball!

Once we got back and into the routine of Daycare again, we received his 'class pictures'! It's too soon to start doing all of this! I thought we wouldn't have to deal with school pictures until he was in REAL school!

Doesn't look like they could get him to crack a smile, but I'm impressed that they were able to keep him still long enough not to be a blur in the photos! That alone is an accomplishment these days. I have to take 20 photos just to get one that isn't blurry!

We washed and folded his 9 month clothes...I think he's set on this size! LOTS of cute clothes! He'll be styling for months to come!

He still fits in most of his 6 month clothes and I even found a few 3 month items in his drawer that he can squeeze into, but he is starting to fit into 9 months as well!

That's about all!

...neglected puppy...

let's all take a nap!

Butterfly Pavilion & Kite Festival

This weekend started out with a bang with a trip to the Butterfly Pavilion on Saturday! We have never been before, and we weren't too sure what to expect. We were mostly just hoping Julian would look around and enjoy being out (and stay awake long enough to see a few things).

The Butterfly Pavilion begins with a bug exhibit - mostly spiders - so we moved past that pretty fast. There were a few fish tanks next, and Julian seemed to take notice.

Next up - the butterflies!

It was very humid and hot in there and Julian was starting to get sleepy, so we called it a day.

On Sunday, we had a little family time with Grandma and Grandpa Maestas, Aunt LeAnn, Uncle Michael, Rylee, Uncle Eric and Joe!

It was nice to spend time with everyone for the first time in a little while since the three of us have been sick the past two months!

After our visit, we drove to the Arvada Kite Festival to enjoy a nice walk, fresh air, and nearly 70 degree weather. Kites galore! It was a cool sight and Julian loved looking around and taking it all in. We found a spot and laid out a blanket to sit and play for a little bit.

After spending time at the Kite Festival, we went for a walk around Sloan's Lake to work up our appetite for pizza at the Edgewater Inn. Julian had a great time playing at the table and trying to grab everything in sight.

All in all it was a really fun weekend! We hope the good weather continues so we can keep going on fun and new adventures as a family.

Here are some snapshots of Julian playing, eating, and sleeping:
